2009 Fall TV Lineup - Top 5 Must-Watch Shows

September is the best time of year for TV junkies – a revamped Fall TV lineup, the premiere of new shows and the return of old favorites. It’s an even better time for TV junkies who are also DIRECTV subscribers. They’ll get to watch all the best shows in high definition. But with programming changes and a variety of new sitcoms and dramas, it’s hard to know what to watch. Direct Star TV has narrowed down the list to the top 5 shows worth checking out this Fall:

Old Shows, New Hype:
One of the biggest changes to the Fall TV lineup is the Jay Leno Show, which will air at 10 p.m. on NBC. It’s a big shift for fans of the former Tonight Show host and it could dramatically impact viewership for other programming in the same time slot and shows airing immediately after it. This season will also be a big change for American Idol fans, as the show’s most interesting character – judge Paula Abdul – will be noticeably absent. It’s worth watching both programs to see if they come back better than ever.

New Programming:
This season promises for some exciting new programming. We’re setting our DIRECTV DVR to record Cougar Town and Flash Forward. Cougar Town stars Courtney Cox and if all goes well, it will bring her back to sitcom fame.  In the ABC show, Cox plays a 40-year-old single mom with a twenty something kid, who (surprise) has an interest in younger men. This could be a love it or hate it kind of sitcom but with possible appearances from big names like Jennifer Aniston, we’ll give it a shot.  ABC’s Flash Forward, a much different kind of show, centers around a 17-second global blackout. During the blackout, all the characters get a brief preview of their future, and drama ensues. This has potential to be the new Lost.

Anticipated Season Premiere:
As for Direct Star TV’s most anticipated season premiere? We’re giving it to The Office. Always hilarious and always uncomfortable, it’s worth tuning in just to see how Michael reacts to Pam’s pregnancy. Expect nine months of awkwardness.
