DIRECTV Exclusive Programming
Trying to decide which satellite provider offers the most bang for your buck can be very trying. You research monthly costs and discover they are similar. You see which one has the best promotional offer for new customers and again, they seem almost the same. If you’re into sports, you may find that DIRECTV stands out above Dish Network as far as the premium sports that are offered. But what if you aren’t into sports, at least not into them enough to pay extra for them? Then how do you decide which one to go with?
To help you out, check out the exclusive content offered by each of the providers. After all, if you’re a paying customer, it’s always nice to know that there are perks offered to you, that’s not offered to those aren’t customers. Dish Network offers Sirius satellite radio exclusive to their customers, while DIRECTV offers XM satellite radio to theirs. That might be a moot point however, since the two companies are approaching a merger. Dish Network doesn’t seem to have a lot in the way of exclusive programming or content for their customers.
As far as what’s on your television goes, there are a few perks to being a DIRECTV customer. First, believe it or not, there are a few channels that they offer that Dish Network doesn’t. There’s only a few, but if you happen to enjoy the programming on one of those channels, then that’s a bonus for you. DIRECTV has several interactive channels, such as News Mix and Sports Mix. With News Mix, you can see the breaking headlines from several of the top news organizations, all at one time. With Sports Mix, you can watch up to eight (yes, eight!) screens simultaneously, catching up on which team is playing who, and how they are doing.
There is also The 101. This fantastic channel has a variety of programming, all of it exclusive to DIRECTV. You can watch concerts and specials here, but you can also catch original programming, such as Championship Gaming Series, Supreme Court of Comedy and DIRECTV Hometown Heroes.
There’s exclusive content on the DIRECTV website for customers as well. Check out the Maltin Minute. Renowned movie critic Leonard Maltin reviews the movies that are offered on DIRECTV pay per view. These short but informative video reviews are a great way to help folks decide which movie they want to watch, especially for those Indie movies that you know you’ve heard of, but you just can’t recall what the movie is about.
Another bonus for DIRECTV customers that are movie buffs, is The Scorsese Selection. In this website column, acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese delivers his picks for movies that customers should watch. He breaks down such important information as plot lines and the actors performances, as well as imagery and cinematic presence. But he also talks about the ways in which those movies he’s chosen to discuss inspired him in his own film making.
