DIRECTV Launches TV Apps, Facebook and a FREE Starz Weekend.
DIRECTV recently announced the launch of its newest feature – TV Apps. Customers can download the FREE apps on their TV and access them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Currently, available apps include Twitter, ScoreGuide, 5-Day Weather Forecast and many more.
With the apps feature, DIRECTV subscribers can pull up the features they want to see while they watch TV. So if you’re watching the new episode of The Office and want to Tweet about it, you can simply pull up the Twitter app and access it on your TV. Using the apps feature is as simple as clicking the right arrow on the remote. It gives users the choice of whether or not to keep the app on the screen while they channel surf. You can keep the ScoreGuide app pulled up so you know what’s happening in all the biggest games, or you can check the score of a single game and exit out of the app with the click of a button. They’re similar to iPhone Apps and currently, 5-Day Weather, What’s Hot, ScoreGuide, My MLB Team and Horoscope are the most downloaded among customers. The only catch is that you’ll need the new model of the DIRECTV DVR box to access the apps feature.
DIRECTV also just launched a Facebook page for fans of the service. People can find out about DIRECT TV NFL SUNDAY TICKET, watch DIRECTV commercials and learn about new deals and limited time offers. There’s even a Spotlight section where fans can watch V.I.P. Interviews with celebrities and learn tips and tricks for their DIRECTV service. The page already has close to 15,000 fans.
Plus, DIRECTV is offering its subscribers a Starz™ Super Pack FREE Trial this weekend only. From September 17-20, Starz™ movie channels 518-533 are FREE for anyone with DIRECTV. It’s a pretty good excuse to relax at home.
