2. What is NASCAR HotPass?

NASCAR HotPass is an exclusive sports package available only on DIRECTV, beginning with the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series™. NASCAR HotPass uses four channels to focus on some of the top drivers each week of the Sprint Cup Series. 28 dedicated cameras will cover only these four drivers for that race. Cameras will include an in-car camera, two overhead corner cameras in turns 1 and 3, a pit box overhead camera and a pit crew shoulder camera giving you unique access to the drivers during the race. Real time data tracks the speed, RPMs and other stats. HotPass will also change the way you listen to NASCAR: each HotPass channel has two NASCAR announcers describing the action of that particular driver, and you'll also hear communications between the driver, his spotter and team. Each week, HotPass subscribers will have access to an exclusive audio and visual NASCAR experience, only on DIRECTV.

3. What is new for NASCAR HotPass for the 2008 season?

Last year, we made television history by broadcasting racing like never before. This year we're adding significant horsepower to the NASCAR Hotpass experience. DIRECTV will broadcast all 36 races on NASCAR HotPass in crystal-clear high definition. (We will still broadcast the races in standard definition as well.) We're also introducing new enhanced audio features for next season. Just tune in to channel 795 during the race and you will be able to listen to selected driver-team communications of drivers who are not featured HotPass drivers for that race.

4. Is NASCAR HotPass exclusive to DIRECTV?

Yes. NASCAR and DIRECTV have entered into a three-year agreement to provide this exclusive NASCAR racing package only to DIRECTV customers starting with the 2007 season.

5. Which drivers will be broadcast on NASCAR HotPass?

The drivers change from race to race. Some drivers could appear multiple times dependent on the selection of drivers each week by NASCAR and DIRECTV. Drivers and teams subject to change each week.

6. How many races are included in NASCAR HotPass?

Every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points race of 2008 are included in the full season package - a total of 36 races in all if you purchase before the season starts. Customers that purchase after the season starts will receive the remaining races on the schedule. The first race is the Daytona 500 on February 17, 2008. The season concludes at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16, 2008.

7. How is NASCAR HotPass different from network coverage of the races?

Typical network coverage usually follows the leaders of a race for the majority of the coverage and periodically follows other drivers as warranted. The network coverage is designed to give a broad view of the race without focusing only on one or two drivers. NASCAR HotPass, however, focuses on some of the top drivers each week and only those drivers so you can follow the every move of your favorite NASCAR racer. One driver will be on each channel with a total of 4 channels. HotPass also includes network coverage of the race in a smaller window on your screen so you will not miss out on their great coverage of the bigger race developments of that race.

8. What happens if a driver is knocked out of the race?

If a wreck or mechanical problem knocks a HotPass driver out of the race, DIRECTV will make best efforts to put in an alternate driver for that channel if time permits. The alternate racer may not have all 7 cameras.

9. What kind of audio features does NASCAR HotPass offer?

Two announcers per channel will describe the action from start to finish. You'll also hear the dialogue between the driver and his team on their internal communications system. You can switch to the live broadcast audio at any time. A third audio feature also exists to listen to team audio only. We're also introducing new enhanced audio features for next season. Just tune in to channel 795 during the race and you will be able to listen to selected driver-team communications of drivers who are not featured HotPass drivers for that race. To switch audio, simply select one of the three audio options on the HotPass audio menu option or hit the yellow button as a shortcut. If you do not have an interactive receiver, use the alternate audio/SAP functionality with your receiver to select any of the three audio options.

10. What happens if a race is rained out?

The rescheduled race usually takes place the following day.

11. Do I need any special DIRECTV equipment to watch NASCAR HotPass?

No. All DIRECTV receivers allow you to view NASCAR HotPass channels. However, some additional interactive features may be included in the package, which will require an interactive receiver to use those added features. The D10, D11, HR20, R15 models are all interactive at this time.
